"If Children don't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
-Ignacio Estrada
There are seasons in every human life.
Childhood is the season in which wonder comes naturally.
Questions are asked without hesitation.
Curiosity is instinctive.
In our Martial Arts class for the youngest students, children are encouraged to become curious about physical movement, learning, and what they are capable of achieving through specially selected and age appropriate Karate techniques, mindful movement, challenging and fun activities and games and the etiquette of the Japanese Dojo.
We offer families a no obligation two-week trial, free of charge, to see if our classes are the right fit for your child.
From the way we greet them, and the way we listen.
The way we respond when they struggle, and the way we celebrate effort rather than perfection.
A bow teaches respect.
Standing quietly teaches attention.
Breathing teaches steadiness.
Training with a partner teaches kindness and cooperation.
Partner work, and etiquette is an important component of our children's class. Teaching students early in their martial arts practice to take care of each other in class allows students to safely learn Kumite and self defence, and teaches them about respecting others, themselves, having empathy and cheering for others.
Introducing traditional Karate etiquette such as bowing and mindful listening and breathing helps children slow down and learn to self regulate and respond to, instead of reacting to, their environment
The martial arts become one of the ways a child begins discovering that strength and gentleness belong together.
In these early years, our purpose is not to produce exceptional martial artists. It is to help cultivate confident, compassionate, and joyful human beings.
The techniques matter.
The traditions matter.
The discipline matters.
But always in service of something deeper. A lifelong love of practice and personal development.
Children will begin to learn short, simple and age appropriate Kata that helps them build confidence and experience tangible results of their hard work. All children are encouraged, but never forced, to demonstrate their Kata for their class mates and parent spectators.
Confidence isn't the absence of fear, confidence is feeling nervous or fearful, but taking action while feeling these emotions. In the process children realize that they can do hard things and overcome their worries.

We have been teaching children's Martial Arts since 2020 and have learned much from our youngest students. We understand and appreciate that new experiences, new places and new people can be uncomfortable and even frightening for some children and some may require special considerations.
We will always treat your child with the patience and kindness their comfort level requires as they adjust to doing something new.
All of our Karate Classes are taught by two professional Black Belt teachers and assisted by senior students from the youth and adult classes, providing supportive learning to children as they begin to learn and practice martial arts and self defence
Doors open ten minutes before class start and students are given time for supervised free play with their class mates, there will be hula hoops, skip ropes, balls and other play options.
We begin and end all classes with a brief Rei Shiki, the Japanese Etiquette ceremony, this is our formal start and ending to class.
We blend fun, focus and learning in our Karate for ages 5 to 8 class. Students will begin to learn age appropriate Karate and self defence techniques, physical development with drills and activities that develop balance, speed and agility, building the body-mind connection and games to encourage fun and a continued love of learning.
We leave time in each class for children to volunteer to come up on their own, or with a teacher, to demonstrate one of their newly developed skills for the class and parent spectators.
We encourage families to train together and offer family memberships when siblings or parents train together in our school.

You only have to learn how to be great at one thing to become great at anything you choose.

A person who is peaceful on the inside will not cause harm to others, because what he feels is peace.

If you are facing in the right direction, all you have to do is start walking
