"If Children don't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
-Ignacio Estrada
The classical martial arts offer children something increasingly rare. A place where progress is measured not by comparison with others, but by sincere practice.
Where effort matters.
Where patience matters.
Where helping a younger student matters.
Where learning to begin again matters.
Within these traditions, children gradually discover that confidence grows through participation. Character grows through responsibility.
Resilience grows through meeting challenges rather than avoiding them.
The style of Karate we practice and teach is Goju Ryu. Goju means “Having Strength, Choosing to be Gentle.”
We offer families a no obligation two-week trial, free of charge, to see if our classes are the right fit for your child.
Compassion, respect, gratitude and courage. Humility, kindness and perseverance. Not as lessons to memorize. but as qualities to cultivate.
In our Karate class for ages 9 to 12 we began to focus on self defence not only in terms of techniques, but we also teach our students violence prevention. How to avoid danger before violence begins whenever possible, exploring the concepts of self control and ego and their role in personal safety. We explore the nature of violence and peace, distinguishing between a good person having a bad day, and a predator.
Every class becomes another opportunity to discover that real strength does not require harshness. That confidence does not require arrogance, discipline can exist alongside laughter and that a peaceful heart can also be a courageous one.

Children's Karate for ages 9 to 12 can be a direct continuation of the Children ages 5 to 8 class, or you can join as a beginner to Karate.
All of our Karate Classes are taught by two professional Black Belt teachers and assisted by senior students from the youth and adult classes, providing supportive learning to students as they practice Martial Arts and Self Defence.
Students will learn
Kihon (fundimentsl techniques of Karate)
The outcomes to practicing Kihon is not only learning the common strikes, blocks, kicks and stances found in Karate but developing physical qualities like strength, stamina and flexibility.
Kumite (partner work, also know as "clash hands")
Learning to take care of your partner so to not hurt them teaches respect and restraint, but Kumite also teaches students coordination and timing and helps overcome the discomfort of physical confrontation to better prepare children for the potential of encountering it outside of the Dojo.
Kata (translates into "the way of doing things properly", kata is pre-arranged and codified sequence of Karate movements)
Students will learn Kata, preforming it as a group and given the opportunity to preform their kata on their own in solo demonstrations. Kata is a great way to train the body and the mind, it can be challenging to learn and preform but achievable with practice, time and focus.
Self Defence
We practice scenario training and deescalation with partners, learn about violence prevention, situational awareness and common striking and blocking techniques.
Games, drills and other activities
To improve physical activity; balance, speed, strength and agility and encourage a love for learning
Mindful breathing
Helps to slow things down when the energy is high, reestablishing focus and quiet. Breathing mindfully also teaches children that they can regain control over their bodies and mind with their breath when anxiety and other stressors begin to affect them.
We encourage families to train together and offer family memberships when siblings or parents train together in our school.

You only have to learn how to be great at one thing to become great at anything you choose.

A person who is peaceful on the inside will not cause harm to others, because what he feels is peace.

If you are facing in the right direction, all you have to do is start walking.
